I’m sure you’ve heard someone say “if only there were more hours in the day” usually in reference to not having enough time to get things done.
I think we have just the right amount of time in a day. The bigger issue is, “what am I doing with the time I have?”
I recently heard Harry Connick, Jr speak. If you don’t know Harry, he is a musician, singer, artist, actor, writer, TV host, speaker, community activist, husband and dad. When asked about how he gets everything done, he simply said,
“We all have 24 hours in a day which is plenty of time. I try to take advantage of every minute I have.”
It struck me that he’s right. My issue isn’t that I don’t have enough time, it’s that I don’t always make the most of the time I have.
Regardless of what I have planned, I have the exact same number of hours as everyone else, even Harry! The difference is what I decide to do with those hours.
Sadly, more times than I’d like to admit, I don’t take full advantage of the time and talents God has blessed me with. I’m not talking about filling up my calendar so I look and feel busy. I’m talking about using every minute, every hour, of every day to learn something, be something and do something.
Every day is a gift. Another reset on the 24 hour clock. How will we take advantage of the time we have?
Clock is ticking.
