“I’m sick and tired of hearing about grace.”
Someone once said that to me many years ago. Actually It wasn’t just any someone but a believer someone. They weren’t joking. They weren’t being sarcastic. They were completely serious. They were tired of hearing about grace.
It struck me as odd then and it has always stayed with me.
Not the fact that grace is undeserved.
But that someone, anyone, would actually get tired of hearing about God’s grace.
Grace I can’t earn.
Grace that is offered to me despite of me.
Grace that saved someone like me.
Yes, amazing grace.
God saved you by his grace when you believed.
And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
If you’re a believer, go ahead and struggle with grace, but please never grow tired of hearing about grace.
If you’re not a believer, consider the gift that God has freely given to you, me and everyone.
A final thought. From what I can tell, the word “grace” is used 123 times in the New Testament (NIV version).
That’s a lot of grace.
But maybe that’s the point. Despite not understanding why, at least embrace that grace was a gift given with you and me in mind.
And that should be something always worth hearing.
